ADBLUE - won’t reset help!

Hey all,

I’ve got a 2019 t6, 46k miles.

Driving about 4 days ago and the adblue light came on (1400DEF!) so I’ve filled it up today with a 5L.

It’s not resetting so I’m still getting the warning, I’ve done the 30 seconds thing but nothing any ideas? I’ve got no engine management lights

How much did it say on the dash to add (min, max)?
It sounds like you may not have added the minimum amount requested.

1.25g-1.5g

I worked out that’s Uk galon so I added another 2l being careful not to overfill. So it’s had ~7L… still reading 1400.

Tried the 30 second reset, no joy

The 1.25-1.5 suggests it wasn't empty so didn't really need filling but now you have it may be struggling to read the new level if it's too full.
Loads of threads on here about that.
If you do decide to go the VW route book it in asap because you're likely to have to wait a few weeks. In the meantime drive it like normal and keep an eye on the van doing a regen after which it may reset itself.

There have been a variety of results with doing the software update - works sometimes but not always, Some VW dealers want to charge for it, others don't etc.
Worth calling your local dealer to discuss at least.

AdBlue Software Update from Dealership. although it implies the issues were around 2017 so not sure if your 2019 would already be updated.
I believe the updated version is 6163
If you call your dealer they can hopefully clarify.

Reading the OP it seems he didn’t add what the van was asking for. Put too little in. Then when it didn’t reset looked what the van was asking for and added a bit more.
Why on earth people can just add what the van is asking for in the first place beats me.
It seems almost every thread about adBlue problems starts when someone has added a random amount of adBlue.

Either way I am where I am, any advice ?

I don’t really want to just jump straight to mapping it out, but equally I’m struggling to find a reason not too… first time I’ve ever filled it up scuppered!

Apparently they are that fickle. Unfortunately.

Sorry I don’t have an answer. Although I’ve read of some people keep driving and it resets itself. But that would be your choice.

I’ve drove it 50 or so miles, I’ll keep driving it. It’s in the garage Tuesday

I inadvertently overfilled mine when I wasn’t paying attention. The distance didn’t reset for about 250 miles, then boom! All good.
