AC Expansion valve Leak from being Bodged

Hi
I have a T5.1 Shuttle that has been converted. The air con doesn't work so i took it for a re-gas and was told it had a leak from the rear of the van. The garage has had a look and said that the expansion valve has been blocked off with a rusty plate, two bolts and a load of sealant. The garage said they dont want to bodge it further and will put it back to how it was.

Any ideas how I can fix this? I presume the rear aircon has been removed and this would of fed one of the original pipes?
I have read about people blanking off pipes in the engine bay when the rear system is no longer required.
The mechanic is going to take some pictures before he puts it back together. I asked him for the part number of the valve so at least i could have a look online at some pics of one. its 7h0820679c

Thank you

Andy

If I am right the hard pipes are an ally based metal. Best to cut hoses and take to hydraulic hose guy to crimp proper fittings or u will be for ever topping and wrecking atmosphere!
