AC compressor valve replacement

Does anyone have experience with replacing the control valve (solenoid) on T6 AC compressor? My garage has diagnosed the valve to be faulty, but are not willing to change it, saying it's difficult to get the valve out intact, and leakage is likely with the new one. Also, if you have done valve replacement, does it require removing the compressor? The van has 2 system climate system, front and rear.

T6 Multivan, 2016, 110kW diesel in case this matters somehow.
