3D & 4D plates illegal from Sep 2021?

Just saw this post on a Facebook forum on upcoming changes to the BS AU 145e number plate standards, does anyone have any additional information or thoughts.

I have only just heard about this, but to me it just looks like the 3d appearance is being outlawed (2d printed text that has differing tones to make it appear 3d)

I think it also includes those nasty DIY '3D gel' plates as removable letters are also prohibited.

It's good to see that they've stopped the 40 year rolling change for vehicles to be allowed to display the historic black over silver plates too. Someone must have realised that the Mini Metro was released in 1980 and had to do something!

Its a bit pointless anyway. The Police dont give a figs about number plates styles and illegal spacing. Oh wait, unless its on a motorbike, then they can spend all day at a place where bikes gather with a rule measuring the letters to check.

I was pulled because I changed the spacing on my old plate
K50 WLS to K5 0WLS

Its very rare though. I even asked a police friend of mine. He said they dont bother as if they ever feel like pulling them over for a more serious offence (basically a stop and search) they have a genuine reason.
