Welcome to the club.2018, 204hp 4motion. Using 1ltr every 1200 miles but upped to 1 litre in 400 miles when towing. Van has 70k miles on it. No investigation work yet but doing compression test soon.
Keep us updated...And another one. 204 4Mo 2019 CXEB 64500 miles, having second oil consumption test and first didn't complete (low oil alarm under 400 miles and Assist topped it up to get us home). Thankfully under All-in Warranty and has been since manufacturer warranty expired. Adds insult to injury, we had a 180 2013 plate and same issue. Never thought lightning would strike twice.
Keep us updatedOil consumption on mines still going up. Vans out of warranty and remapped by previous owner so booked into retro resus next Thursday for compression test and inspections.
Hopefully know more on the damage by end of next week

That great news (classic covered under warranty).Well, second oil consumption test complete today, and had the call a new engine is required. I have the All-in Warranty thankfully, so pleased to see others have had good outcomes on that front. Will see what the whole damage is later on.
Don't have all the detail yet, hopefully next couple of days. Good to know about the DPF, Cat etc. That great news (classic covered under warranty).
Keep us posted with your progress.
What about the DPF, cat, oxygen sensor?
They are required to be changed under the Volkswagen TPI.
Just got back from RROil consumption on mines still going up. Vans out of warranty and remapped by previous owner so booked into retro resus next Thursday for compression test and inspections.

Before discounting it have you read the T&Cs of the RAC Warranty?Hi All - 2017 204bhp CXEB DSG with 60k miles. Just had to replace DPF after a breakdown (DPF internals had fully melted). High oil consumption (7 litres in 7k miles). Oil sample tested by Darkside, with results showing chromium (bearings, pistons, piston rings, liners), aluminium (pistons) & particularly high iron (block), pointing towards the root cause problem being the piston rings fault.
Bought the van 11 months ago from an independent dealer, with an RAC 'Platinum' extended warranty.
I'm kicking myself, as when buying I ignored the patchy service history & CXEB horror stories, almost in blind hope that "it wouldn't happen to me" - Well, it has..! Indicative price for new engine is £12-15k.
Any suggestions or perspective welcome on potential recourse to VW (presume highly unlikely), RAC warranty (presume unlikely) or Dealer (again, presume unlikely)?
Please be gentle though - we've sunk an extra £15k into day van/camper conversion work & I'm panicking about what to do!
It’s confusing tbh - paperwork states that the parts are covered (provided not deemed normal wear & tear), yet it wouldn’t be covered if defined as an ‘inherent design fault’ (as per the pic). Before discounting it have you read the T&Cs of the RAC Warranty?

What have you got to loose? It’s confusing tbh - paperwork states that the parts are covered (provided not deemed normal wear & tear), yet it wouldn’t be covered if defined as an ‘inherent design fault’ (as per the pic).
Warranty also states it must be maintained in line with manufacturer recommendations to be a valid claim - although maintained as per recommendation since I purchased the van (& therefore when the warranty began), the prior service history is patchy at best.
Will submit a claim regardless, as it can’t put me in a worse position than I am now!

Yes - either RAC say it’s a known design fault in which case you go to VW and basically say ‘these experts tell me this is your problem to fix’ or they say the van wasn’t previously maintained to the correct standard in which case you go back to the dealer and say ‘you sold this with a warranty that was never valid - which smacks of mis-selling’ and ask them to rectify the issue. What have you got to loose?
It’s not a recall item and VW will not admit it’s a design fault, just make sure you are determined and keep a record of all interactions, preferably email.
