2016 T6 DSG 7-Speed - Sudden Jolt / Power Loss (No Error Codes)

Hi all,

Wondering if anyone else has come across this:

We’ve got a 2016 T6 with the 7-speed DSG. Drives great most of the time, but recently we’ve started noticing an occasional sudden jolt or hesitation, like it momentarily loses accelerate power. It’s not linked to gear changes - the DSG still shifts smoothly - so I’m leaning away from it being a gearbox or clutch issue.

There’s no clear pattern (hot/cold, uphill, load etc) and no fault codes showing on OBD. It just feels like the engine stumbles for half a second.

We’re booked in for a full service tomorrow, including DSG oil/filter change, and maybe there’s something I could ask them to check.

Just wondered if this is a known issue or something others have experienced before I go chasing shadows. It’s an annoying one because it’s intermittent, and not throwing any faults.

Appreciate any thoughts or shared experiences, thanks.

I had similar symptoms earler this year. initially thought it was the dsg but turned out to be a split intercooler. didnt through up any codes or lights either, just lost power

Might not be related at all, but with the age of the vehicle might be worth a search on here... Drive shaft / stub shaft splines being worn can sometimes cause a bit of a 'clunk' or jolt

Thank you, this is really useful. Was it just a split second of loss of power when driving along then all fine again?

Thank you, I did wonder on drive shaft but there’s no discernible clunk - just a split second loss of acceleration. One to check though.

was when moving off. fine when up and running but when accelerating it would hesitate.
try looking through the grille and see if the intercooler seems to have expanded in the middle. theres metal strips that keep the core together and somehow mine had come off and were lying on the plastic trim below it. looked like an accordion
