When I had my coolant loss issue it took VW 4 months to come to the conclusion that it was the coolant pump - this afternoon they had replaced the EGR!!! At considerable cost. After the EGR replacement the van went back to VW 3 more times with yet more coolant loss before they found the leaking coolant pump - the fact that was "pink" was a bit o f a give away. How they missed it during the 4 inspections I shudder to believe other than "they did not look" and just charged for the EGR replacement. When challenged they insisted that there were two faults EGR plus coolant pump. Since I did not retrieve the failed EGR from VW (silly me) I could not challenge their diagnosis.
