    Broken springs:

...under the extended warranty - :) But VW have looked at the van and there is an oil 'weep' from the crankshaft seal. Guess what - that is not covered by the extended warranty 😤. They say it is not too bad so could be left and watched. Funny how a £200 spring is covered but a £1000 oil seal is not!

T6 front crankshaft oil seal leak (or something else?)

Thanks Dellmassive, maybe it's not the seal at all then, or if it is then it has completely collapsed. At this stage not sure where the source of the oil leak is, or what the cause is, yet, as it's just recently started, but I'm having it checked later in week so might know more then.

T6 Service Intervals & Inspection, Flexible & Longlife

...a failure! I'm not saying don't change it earlier, but it doesn't warrant the panic a lot of people get into regarding belts. If the crank oil seal leaks, (fairly common fault) and has to be replaced, the belt may be contaminated with oil, but might as well be changed anyway seeing as it has...

Can a high biting point be due to fluid loss?

It Looks like the crank oil seal this might be a good place to check how to fix

    Nearside Driveshaft change

Someone will correct or confirm but I am sure the drivers side should have oil coming out, unless you jacked it high enough so no oil came out. The passenger side is a flange. Saying that, I’m not sure if there is a seal on the drivers side which would mean it is dry. Have you checked the gear...

Can a high biting point be due to fluid loss?

Lost fluid would give you a low bite. High bite could well be the clutch on its last legs. Has it always been a high bite?? Oil leak is probably front crankshaft oil seal. Pull the upper timing cover off and look for oil contamination on the belt. If it's ok, then just monitor it

    CXEB PCV blocked / broken

I think the oil cap off test is a bit of a red herring on these engines as they all expel a lot of air once opened.

Rear main seal with DMF replacement? T6.1

...on the rear seal. My garage (an indy) charged £189 (VAT inc) for the flange seal/cover and the extra labour charge to replace the rear main oil seal was £39 (inc) . Obviously the gear box was already off for the clutch, which came with its own labour fees (ouch) They used a VAG part. I assume...

The dreaded crankshaft oil seal leak

So,my 2.0tdi van has been in the garage today, new timing belt, water pump and tensioner, all being changed due to the crankshaft seal leaking and contaminating the belt, so the garage rang me up to tell me the vans done! But it's still leaking due to the face on the crankshaft being worn so the...

Potential Van Purchase, how worried should i be about MOT advisories

...easy just to clean before the MOT. You can get used OEM shock absorbers almost for free as so many are ‘upgraded’. Free end crankshaft oil seal is unfortunately quite common, if it is very minor there’s no immediate cause for concern but it will only get worse and if it’s an advisory they...

    DSG Driveshaft Seal Leak

Almost a year to the day since having my gearbox stripped and repaired due to the spider gear spline failure I have noticed a leak at the driveshaft seal for the drivers (longer) driveshaft. I will speak to the company that repaired the gearbox on Tuesday and hopefully they will sort it...

    CXEB PCV blocked / broken

STAND DOWN I’ve just been under the bonnet, I did the vacuum test with the filler cap again, this time I put my hand over the filler hole, there is a slight vacuum, about the same as I have on my crafter too, so I think it’s ok. It’s still leaking oil from both crank seals, and possibly from...

    Hole in engine casing?

Thank you. There is oil everywhere underneath and in the engine bay. Almost looks like something catastrophic happened once upon a time and it was never cleaned up nicely.

    Front crank shaft seal leaking

I know this is an old thread, but I have recently bought a T6 17plate with 160k on it FSH and the first thing I did was put it in a garage for the belt and oil pump belt. Garage rang to say that it had been bodged with silicone and now I’m locked in negotiations to get the repair paid for. Some...
