Can a high biting point be due to fluid loss?

Hi all,

The clutch on my van feels quite high, from searching the forums, could this be as a result of fluid loss?

When I changed the oil recently, I noticed some oil/fluid on the corner of the oil tank, I cleaned it up with brake cleaner but this has been playing on my mind. Could this be related to a high clutch biting point and is it something I need to get looked into? If it is fluid loss, is this a relatively easy thing to resolve and an indication of bigger issues? Meant to be driving round France in it in a couple of weeks 😟

Also happy to be told I’m making a fuss of nothing if this is normal mess/wear and tear?!

I tried to take some pictures today:

Lost fluid would give you a low bite. High bite could well be the clutch on its last legs. Has it always been a high bite??

Oil leak is probably front crankshaft oil seal. Pull the upper timing cover off and look for oil contamination on the belt. If it's ok, then just monitor it

Hey @Dundee_Kev thanks for your reply.

I’ve only owned the van since start of May and the biting point has always been the same.

Will Google how to remove the upper timing belt cover and take a look, thanks!

If it's always been like that, I wouldn't worry too much assuming there are no other clutch related issues
