Yep, I couldn’t see how to get the switch out without doing that. There may be a way but a trim tool wouldn’t shift it so I removed the surround and pushed the switch out from the back

You’re correct but there’s a balance, I think most people used their judgement long before Stop / Start was installed and turned off the engine.

Hi Matt, What year is your van? Any fault codes appear? Sounds like a fuel issue. Is your servicing up to date? Fuel filter. Does it actually start then cut out or does it crank and stop cranking before it starts?

Not sure what the battery monitoring cable would be is that the neutral shunt at the starter battery neutral terminal that keeps the BCM informed of battery state to cut stop start from working when the battery isn't strong enough to perform the job reliably? Also what battery type and Ah rating?

A 70Ah start stop Varta (they make Bosch) is £129.00 inc VAT from Tanya batteries. The RAC quote much higher because they are coming to fit it and they will mark up the price of the battery.

Ok so this video shows the car stopped at a junction. Stop start says it is not working, yet the engine has stopped and the steering wheel is at 90 degrees.
