I’ve tried to search but I cant find a thread or too much information on the battery protectors available.
Is it basically Victron or Is there anything else?

Battery is 110Ah with a Redarc dc-dc if that’s important?

Victron is one of the better ones . . . . and comes with a BT app.

they are rated on current/power carrying capacity.

Thank you. Great info again.
I am thinking the 65A one is fine for me. Just wonder if the BT is worth the extra.

the BT app allows you to set the programming paramiters . .

and also use it as a master on/off isolator switch . . . which is nice.

you can download the APP for free and play with the DEMO units free with the APP.

heres my testing on the 100A unit , , . . .

My 65A Bluetooth Smart Battery Protect keeps turning itself back on. I’ve monitored over months and the pattern appears completely random.

Does anyone find the same thing?

Is it the latest Firmware?

Are you just setting it OFF in the app? (Then its cominh back on?)

Is the supply side voltage healthy and not dropping to low?

Can you some screenshot s of your settings?

Hi,

Yes it’s the latest firmware and yes I just toggle it on and off from the app.

The starter batt is in good health and I don’t have anything drawing from the leisure batt that is not connected via the Victron.

Screen shots are below. It’s not a major problem as I have learned just to keep an eye on it but I just thought it odd that it switches itself back on randomly.

Possibly have a look here...

Failing that send Victron an email. . . . They are good at getting back to people.

Report any new info here . . .

Screen shots are below.

I have not had a chance to physically check this but I wonder if when the battery voltage crosses the 'Restart' threshold (i.e. set to 12.8V in your case) that it overrides the User selected Off state?

I see your battery is currently at 12.7V. Have you got anything that could raise the voltage such as solar charging? Or it could just be the change in battery voltage due to temperature change?

Not sure if this is supposed to happen or not! Just a thought...... Will be interesting to see what Victron say.

You could of course prove this by temporarily selecting a different preset with different threshold voltages away from your batteries nominal rest voltage.

Hi, yes the same thought crossed my mind as I’d not noticed the restart value before today. I don’t however have anything connected for charging at the moment (although I do use a dash solar panel in the summer).

I have not used the leisure batt much this year as we have not been away in the van so the Victron has been off most of the time. I do however wonder if after a long run out the DCDC charges above 13.8 which triggers the restart. I am however sure that I have checked the Victron is off after a long run only for me to find it on next time I look.

It appears to be completely random but I’ll keep a closer eye on it and see what the Victron forum has to suggest.

I did initially wonder that @Dilbert . . . .

But assuming you had charge sources connected . . . . And the USER had selected to disable the output....

You would assume that the user function should override any automatic function.

But we would need to test this for confirmation or hear back from Victron on the programming.

Have you got a BM2 monitor on the Leisure side of the Victron smart shunt? (On the Aux battery)

A BM2 unit will log the voltage over the weeks and months allowing you to go back and see exactly what happened when, and why.

More on that here:
