A moderate lift then Ha

Tyre inflation on the go, connected airlines to wheel centres. We have 12 more nights here so trying to keep budget under control, been here 9 days so far, diesel has been around £1.90 a litre, a campsite around £25 a night, half a dozen items from a supermarket about £30
We are about half way round, we are driving anti clockwise, waiting for a few more highland roads to open up, weather has been better than expected. When I get back home I’ll post a full breakdown of cost for the trip from uk

Probably perfectly legal there. Just like every other civilised country but here. I’m not sure about France. It is legal in Germany.Pornic, not Pornhub, Pornic in N/W France just down from St Nazaire and what looked like the Dartford crossing.
Lovely place, all neat and tidy and geared up for tourism but has what looks to be a nice little side hustle going on with repurposed amenity planting areas.
I'm not into this sort of thing but the wife crushed a leaf between thumb and finger and assured me it's probably a strain called "Northern Lights" can I use this for herbal tea or rub it on my neck to relieve neck ache from driving hundreds of Kms at 90kmph?

Love that sort of thing/event. years since I visited one though. I remember an unfortunate event at a farm show in Mid Wales many years ago. A waiting traction engine did a short turn into a field containing Shire and other Heavy Horses. A Shire was pulling a very heavy cart bolted and loads of people were shouting and screaming warnings as the Shire and cart pounded at speed away from the traction engine. The traction engine as it turned appeared to make more noise as it turned with the pistons perhaps moving faster anyway the Shire was very spooked, a young animal I think Unfortunately it ran right over a man the cart bucking as it went over. Evidently the man was deaf and did not here the intensified warnings and did not know what happened. news seemed to avoid papers at the time and I am not even sure from memory very long time ago that the Coroner had all the details either. That is very typical in country areas it was most probably felt it would not serve any useful purpose but in fact it may have done because the two attractions are best left separated by a gap in space and time. A shire out of control is very serious with horse weighing about 1 ton and similar for the 4 wheeled cart I would have thought at least. Love both attractions.Mostly I'm here to see beauties like this absolute beast of a traction engineView attachment 292868
That was at Llandysul closer to Horeb. We where very close, there where helicopter rides but defiantly a traction engine spooked the horse. We where shocked even before the horse had bolted what on earth posses anyone to bring a traction engine so close to field of horses only one engine did that. May have been mistake.I was there at that steam rally showing my old Sunbeam motorbike and what I remember there were helicopter rides which were to close to where the Shirehorse was the helicopter started up the horse bolted and killed the owner of the horse and cart.

Here's a belated picture of our pitch with plenty of shade which has been badly needed due to it hitting the early 40s by mid afternoon which even for someone who has spent what seems like half their life in very hot climates is starting to feel a bit extreme (so much so that we've decided to bail from S of France and head back north tomorrow). That said, heat aside, I can heartily recommend the Ageles / Collioure area. and this particular site. After a couple off days at Camping la Cite, Carcassone (¢24 and well worth it), we're now at Camping La Plage in Argeles sur Mer. It's a very good site at about ¢26 per night (ACSI) - there's a nice pool if that's your thing (not ours though), it's about 500M from a very large sandy beach on the med and it's also very hot (late 30s) but our pitch is very well shaded by trees.
This is Carcasonne from the campsite - pics of the current place to follow.
@Bav will be super jealousNantes today and a mighty hefalump...
