Wheel/Tyre Conundrum

I am in a wheel/tyre dilemma and wondered if you could help

I have an older set of tyres and after market rims 235/55/18 that I put on my newly acquired 2017 T32. It didn't look right as there was too bigger gap between the top of the tyre and the arch. It didn't look rubbish but 'not right'. I then purchased a coilover kit and fitted that. The result was that I now have a lowered 'street car' type look and a much harder ride. I was so disappointed as this is def not the look I am after. My question is, should I get the original shocks/coils fitted back on and then order some (say) 19" rims and 245/55/19 rubber? Would this fill the arch space and give me the chunky look that I'm after with a softer ride and a 'non lowered' look?

It's not just the ride, its the way it looks 'lowered' which is what any coilover kit will do (I'm told). These have been set to their highest setting too. I have seen other T5/6's that evidently haven't been lowered but the wheels/tyres fill the arches. That's the look I'm after

With the right Coilovers you can have the look and the ride.

Here’s one we just did with the same setup on our Coilovers. 30-70mm lowering.

What I want is the arches to be filled like that but without the van being lowered (the coilover kit). I have seen them around. I saw a T6 with 20" rims and lowish profile tyres and it def hadn't been lowered. That's the look I'm after. Does that make sense? It must be doable surely?

There would be more room if it wasn't lowered wouldn't there? Lowering it undoubtedly would fill the arch with say an 18" rim (which is what I've got) but without lowering it, I'm asking/guessing you can fill the space with a bigger rim + tyre?

A 20inch rim with a bigger profile tyre will fill the arch gap more yes but not as much as I feel your after without lowering plus you seem to think you’ve seen a T6 with low profile tyres and not lowered with the look your after which confused me can you find a pic of a can of the look your after?

Well I run 255/55R18 on a Caravelle Exec 4Motion standard suspension for them which lower than a van and can do so without rubbing even when articulated. I will eventually raze it, do not give a dam about looks or filling the wheel arch, in fact prefer it not to fill the wheel arch. Need freedom of movement without restrictions. So if your suspension is adjustable you could raze it to fit something like that.

Sorry for the delay. I couldn't seem to find a van with the wheel look that i'm after. Here are pics of my van. The wheels/look is jus a bit 'meh'. Mine are 18" rims with 235/35/18 tyres. The other van's wheels/tyres are 20" rims with 275/40/20.

I'm guessing that what I need to do is to get bigger rims and a lower profile tyre (say a 245). What do you think?

I would say that bottom van is lowered plus looks like a camper so probably loaded in the rear also

So would you say that I just need to get bigger rims and tyres then? Mine (top pics) are 18's so I'm thinking 19's as 20's might affect the turning circle or touch the arches at full lock

it’s not just about the wheel but the tyre too. Larger wheels with lower profile often end up similar in overall size, yet accentuates the arch gap with a very low tyre.

A 20inch rim with say a 40/45 tyre will still have a gap to arch all be it not as much as an 18inch rim
If your after the look you’ve showed us the van will need lowering.
There’s plenty of suspension specialists on here that could explain it all to you.
