Wheel offset - CNC milling

Has anyone had the offset re-machined on a set of alloy wheels before?

I presume wheel manufactures machine the offset after casting?

Would it affect the load rating?

Some wheels are machined when ordered to the required offset (obviously within limitations) where as some are made to each size.
I would assume that the economy of scale comes in to play here with the numbers expected to be sold.
If you search "offset machining" here there are a couple of threads where wheel suppliers/installers have stated that they have machined the faces to suit different applications. Sometimes to gain a little clearance or just to fit a wheel that isn't available in the ideal size.
Are the wheels new, not ordered yet or an old set?
As for load rating, it shouldn't affect it as long as the new offset is within the range originally offered. Beyond that it may be fine but won't have necessarily been tested and approved. You'll be one of those grey areas....

Thanks @The Bear78 I’ll take a search in a bit

The wheels are ones I’ve had for a while but from new, Inovit Vectors 20”. The are 10” wide with ET 38, ideally I need just enough for them to clear the doors of a SWB shuttle, they were find on kombi. I think around 5mm would be sufficient from a test fit.

The problem you have is that it depends on how much material is under the bolt seat. If you remove too much of the back pad, you will often leave very little under the bolt, which limits how much you can remove.

You may not even be able to take 5mm off safely. You'd to remove the wheel and have a close look.

I was wondering this, tbh this is my biggest concern.

Fortunately the wheels are off so will take a closer look later
