Whats this wire for

I know this is a rain sensor and it works perfectly but what is the second wire attached to it.
Is it possible to get a new cover for the sensor as well.
Next I have an obd fault coming up see pic
Guide says low voltage on egr valve, is it knackered, blocked or what, I can clear it and it stays off for a couple of days and then comes back again

The bracket usually has the rear view mirror attached and a cover over the clip up to the headlining. Whilst it looks like a connector if it’s like mine then I believe it’s something to do with either the headlight auto level or the auto wipers. Sorry I don’t have any part numbers though
