I agree with the above to the extent that the dealership even suggested to me that a new engine might be the end result of my ongoing EML issues which they couldn't resolve despite numerous attempts ...... you can review my frustrating journey with the EML in my other posts.
An engine replacement may have been covered by my warranty but investigations and getting to the point of proof of the underlying faults would be at my cost .... no thank you!
There are numerous other steps before this extreme one and if the motor is generally running well as mine was/is then it is likely to be something related to the SCR system.
During my research and speaking to a number of very experienced tuners, experts on here and even VW Assist Engineers (these didn't suggest the delete btw) the take-away I got was that if it is a persistent issue, as mine was, you can throw thousands of hard earned coin at it and never get it sorted at which point the best solution maybe as simple as an adblue delete. Some say the SCR system is far too sensitive and fickle.
You need to start with the codes first and go from there. P20EE is relatively generic but others like P204F will indicate SCR issues which may not be a major

Nobody wants to try to sell any vehicle with an EML illuminated.
So it's safe to assume that they've tried every way they can to resolve the cause of that EML and can't. And at MOT time it's going to fail if the EML is illuminated.

I've phoned RAC, Useless took forever to get through and it was just someone saying they will get someone to call me back within an hour. Nothing since. I phoned VW and spoke to someone and told them the situation. They recommened the oil/inspec with supp service + diagnostic check. They also said the vehicle falls within the ability to take out a 2 year extended warranty. I'm not sure if it's worth the paper it's written on but it is peace of mind. @roadtripper Permission to start a thread asking people's experiences with the extended warranty?

No need to start one - just search as it's a very common theme - just be aware that there is the All In Plan (with servicing and breakdown) or just the extended warranty:

tl:dr The all-in is not a bad deal if you are going to pay for the breakdown cover and service plan anyway but it has some noticeable exceptions for vans - specifically oil leaks are excluded which excludes the reasonably common and expensive to fix crankshaft seals

Just been told that the center I wanted to use for the service + diagnostic, they said the can't do the diagnostic till at least the 17th but can't do the service next day. Really need the diagnostic done as well to be honest don't I.
I did purchase the Carista Evo which just turned up. I'm not sure if me doing a diagnostic with that device is anywhere near as good as VW doing it with their equipment. Have you ever used one?
Trust me, that's not the case. I've already knocked them down loads. I refused to purchase the motor after going all the way to get it because of the engine light. I said there's no chance I'm buying it unless I find out why that engine light is on and I want a full service done to make sure there's nothing else wrong with it. I fully want to know what's going on before making a decision. Hence why I'm trying to get this sorted out.

What specifically is unusual enough about this one that is nudging you to take a risk?
End of the day we all enjoy our vans otherwise we wouldn't be here. I don't think anyone is trying to put you off but even on a good day with the "VW Brand Tax" running a T6 can be expensive and ones with unclear history can be absolute money pits.
It'd much nicer to have you around sharing pics of your build and the amazing places you've been rather than long threads debugging fault codes, random wiring issues and failing emissions systems to get the van on the road.

It will be my first T6. This particular one has the bells and whistles I want. I have been looking since Feb. I've not just found one over night and now running at it with cash in hand lol I just want to get this one checked out and if it turns out to be rotten, then I will just walk away. No problem. I just want to figure out the best course of action of trying to figure out the issue with it. If it's something simple then great. If it's hard work. I'll walk away.
I found another but for some reason, the people I am finding are terrible with their paperwork. Again, I'll just walk away if I'm not satisfied. I want to highlight that I'll walk away no problem so people don't think I'm willing to part with cash just because it has "bells and whistles". I'm trying to do my homework before purchasing it. It's not my first expensive motor.
