What Roof Rack Do I Need?

Hi
My Son has has just bought a SWB 2016 T28 S-Line TDI BMT Transporter, with rear barn doors.

He has been dropping very heavy hints to his mum that a roof rack would make him very happy. As with most mothers she thinks the sun shines out of his backside and would refuse him nothing. The upshot of all this is that I, on pain of death or worse must obtain the said roof rack.

The first question is - I presume the T28 is a style design of the T6?
If so will any T6 roof rack fit ( From what I can gather something changes with regards to roof furniture on post 2016 T6's) ?

I am thinking of the Rhino alloy type rack

Thanks

@Buggirl has a rhino roof rack I believe. I know her van isn't a t28 but that's a reference to the maximum overall weight of van and load, 2.8ton (a t30 is 3.0ton etc).
The t6 SWB roof rack should be identical and fit into the bolt holes already in the roof.

It depends what he wants to use it for. Believe it or not, some T6 roof racks are mainly for show and have limited carrying capacity. Others are full on heavy duty for trade use, and may not be what he wants aesthetically.

The VW branded roof rack sits between these 2 extremes, with a decent carrying capacity, and it looks fine. It bolts pretty much permanently to the roof.

There are issues with the fitment of these - they can cause leaks due to the way they bolt onto the van roof, so he may want to get it fitted by a dealer.

The T28 bit is irrelevant in this context. It just defines the van load carrying capacity, which does not affect the roof.

Wow! Thank you for such a fast response, the mist is clearing a tad.
Thanks Ed Webb I have sent Buggirl a pm.
Sage advice Mr Pete C. I must say the Rhino looks ok but may be a little light. (I was going for form over function) I think a more industrial one would be better.
