What diags are best (if any) for parking sensor problems?

Hello! Just got a new (to me) T6. OPS error and beeping. I can feel them all clicking when touching them so not sure it’s any of the sensors, so looks like best plan is to use the diags. Phoned my local garage and asked if they have VagCom, they said they didn’t but have other diagnostic things they can check my van with for £60.

But I don’t know what they actually have (should have asked). From what I gather some things might give more info than others, so is VCDS better than carista or ODB or something? Or not really and they’re much the same.

What’s the best thing to work out parking sensor problems? Or do they all really tell me just as much?

Basically I don’t want to pay £60 just to find out “the parking sensors don’t work properly” without being able to pinpoint what actually needs fixing or looking at. Hence this question.

Or point me to someone in the southampton/Portsmouth area who can help the best.

There’s an Independant VW specialist near in chandlers ford. Are they likely to be the best bet, or go to a main dealer? I don’t have much experience.

Or, since I had my T4 for 15 years, and plan to keep this as long as possible, should I just buy something that will happily tell me enough with some guidance? I need bang for my buck if paying for one-off diags and I’m admittedly trying to be a cheapskate as I’m skint at the mo having just spent loads on the the new van and tax/insurance. I did have some kinda wireless ODB plugin thing I bought for my T4 that wasn’t the most useful, and I have no idea where I put it (last used it about 10 years ago!). But equally if there’s something really worthwhile that works well I can get for the long term I could be convinced to splash out if that’s highly recommended and should wait til I can afford it, but I just don’t have a few hundred quid at the mo.

Any advice on sensible balance between going to a garage, vs buying diags on the cheap vs not wasting money on sub-par cheap stuff much appreciated. I’ve tried to read various posts, but sometimes one just gets lost in hours of post reading and it’s just hard to know what’s best.

Equally if you think I should bide my time and just disconnect and squirt deoxit into every possible connector/sensor I can find related to OPS and hope that works and worry about more advanced diags later if that doesn’t work, let me know (as well as any suggestions to best diags to either buy or pay for someone else to use on my sexy new beast).

I know that on my Audi my VCDS cable tells me which individual parking sensor is not working. Never looked on the van because they all work so no codes, but I'm pretty sure it would tell you if any had failed or if it was the controller etc. See if there's anyone near you with VCDS and a spare 10 minutes.

I was just looking online and found Carista is £45 for the dongle on Amazon + I can get a months subscription for $14.99 (apparently according to the pics). So if the local garage want to charge me £60 as a one-off, if this is ~£55 now and I then have a months diags and can then have a months diags anytime in the future for another $15 (~£10), seems it may just be worth buying that.

Any good reason why not to get Carista (instead of something else) to fault find parking sensors? Reading other posts it doesn't seem much different in detail generally, so will probably just buy that if no-one else suggests otherwise. I presume Amazon is as good/cheap a place as any to get it?
