Most, if not all, of the events organised by the forum are located in the midlands, so not that far for you to travel.![]()
Welcome!Hi all, I bought a white 70 plate T30 kombi a couple of weeks ago and am looking to replace the plastic bumpers with painted ones and get the bottom half resprayed or wrapped. I also want to build a removable platform for the back to allow bags etc to go underneath and the dogs cage on top (maybe even for use as a bed base occasionally, with the back seats down). Any tips on either of those greatly appreciated! The kids and I are really loving the van so far.
Thanks Chestnut, looks like a good system. Unfortunately I think the majority of any budget I have for the van right now is going to go on the bumpers and respray so will be looking to make something similar myself hopefully.Welcome!
I have the Ovano system in my Kombi and recently just bought the 4Pets dog crate for my Labrador which I have on the top shelf of the Ovano. It’s a very solid combination in fairness.
Indeed. All in good time, as there’s loads you will want to do. It’s definitely possible to build your own, but don’t scrimp on the drawer runners if you’re thinking of carrying reasonable loads in the drawer. Thanks Chestnut, looks like a good system. Unfortunately I think the majority of any budget I have for the van right now is going to go on the bumpers and respray so will be looking to make something similar myself hopefully.
Um....Oh…and we need photos…![]()

My ignorance is boundless.it’s a place!

Welcome to the forum.Hi all, New member here. Always wanted a vw and have now gotten into the position to own one. I have a family of 5 to fit in our Kombi(not had a chance to get any decent pics yet with the weather!) Looking for recommendations for a good awning for us to sleep in? Also any must haves with a family? I’ve done a few bits and bobs to the van since having it. Also I’m leics based and would love to know of any local meets this year. Thanks. Hey, I have family down in Falmouth, love it down there and we plan to come in my van at some point to visit themEvening folks, just saying hello as a new member down in Falmouth, Cornwall. Recently got myself a SWB T6.1 panel van, converted to day van / simple camper.
You’ve already saved my bacon with the old leaky roof rails fix, so I’m indebted
I’ve got what I’ve come to learn, is quite an unusual setup inside. A floor rail system with sliding quick-release 3 seater isofix bed. It’s called the Schnierle SL-3. Turns out quite pricey, so glad I didn’t pay for it!
Works wonders for flexibility. Big load space when needed, more leg room when not. Plus the rails (called an L-Track) take quick release fixings for tie downs. Very handy!
Anyway, thanks for having me, hope I can repay the favour in some small way.
