Hi Bav,Avoid the VW mudguards - at least the rear ones, as they're mounted so far away from the wheel as to be utterly pointless (IMO).
I was recommended (and bought) these, but I've yet to fit them...

I will take a look at hem, as I wasn't overly keen on the OEM ones for the reason you you have mentioned. I did think about looking at making up a set like the ones used on Rally Cars. Though they might work better in my head than in reality.
