Washer pump faulty earth

I have a 2015 t6 startline van. The washer pump had been playing up towards the end of last year, only working intermittently. It finally stopped working and Assuming the pump had failed I bought and fitted a new pump, this didn’t solve the problem!
I read in one thread on this problem that it could be caused by an earth fault, I rigged up a temporary earth and hey presto it worked.
My question is does anybody know where the factory earth for the pump is, and if I just rep in the pump plug and run a new earth will that irritate the vans canbus.

thanks in advance if you can help

John

The negative cable goes to a local earth stud in the engine bay unfortunately I can’t remember the exact location of the top of my head would need to have a dig through the earth points document or the wiring diagrams to find it

The good news is though you can simply replace the cable and take it to any chassis point and it will work fine

If you want to find the original location all the required documents are in the downloads area if you want to some digging yourself (VIP membership required)

Hi John, I think you might be referring to my post. The odd thing is, my van is also a 2015 T6 start line. Regarding the earth wire (pin 2) were you able to follow the earth wire back. Wasn’t a lot of space to work. I’m thinking of cutting the connector off and replacing. Then joining the earth wire to the earth of the fog lights. I’d be interested in how you get on.

We cut the earth wire , sealed up the loom side and then connected a new earth wire from the plug to a factory earth point on the chassis inside the engine bay. All seems to work well so far.

Do you have a rear wiper?

Thanks for the update. I’ll have a look on the weekend.

Ah, makes it easier then.

If you had a rear wiper, the body control unit reverses the polarity (feed + earth) to work the rear washer. So it would need repairing 'properly'..
