Vinyl or Leather seating in camper convo?

Van currently being converted

I have rude dogs that share everything so upholstery is between Vinyl and leather. (They make fabric stink!)

Leather is double price apparently. Anyone with experience of both and can help choose? I love my leather sofas at home and scratches add character so that part doesn’t bother me. Price does but wouldn’t if leather is far superior and I intend on keeping van over 5 years.

My dad had a car with vinyl seats in the 70’s. I would not be keen to go back to that feeling.

If you have a bed where you sleep on the vinyl, it will be unpleasant. Our previous van had vinyl panels on the high wear areas, which was ok-ish.

One option I looked at was leather on the seats, and vinyl on the back faces, which reduced the price and still would keep the feel of leather where you need it.
