Vee Dub TDI engine cover fitting

Any one else have a TDI engine cover from Veedub transporters, and had trouble fitting it,
Went to put mine in today and if I clip the rear mounts on the front is 15mm away from the slam panel, and when I put it against the slam panel the rear mounts are nearly falling off.

I clipped mine in on the front clips and rested it against the bulkhead rubber mounts. It did not slide all the way onto the rubbers.

What’s it for? Potential for chaffing components underneath and something else to clutter an already confined engine compartment.

I have OEM one and it fits perfectly.
It hides my ugly intercooler

Had similar issue & posted about it too previously. They don't fit well at all. Mines just barely hanging onto the rubber grommets when it is sitting correctly at the front. If I push it fully onto the rubber grommets then it doesn't reach the popper on the front.

I test fitted my Genuine Vw one and it was spot on! It was so tight there was a bit of a knack to squeezing it in if I remember correctly.

Is this a genuine one?

If you get a chance - what orientation are your rubber grommets at the top? I fitted them with the nut end downwards as the threads are only on the other end.
