Hi, I have just got VCDS as I need to reset the ecall battery, I have replaced the battery and checked battery status in advance measure within the module. It shows 27% charge and critical.

From what I can understand I need to reset the battery and the charge it, when I go into basic setting and select MA17566 - resetting the history and of emergency battery it come back as not running.

Does anyone know what I need change so it will carry out the reset?

Cheers
Chris

when running adaptions theres normally a button that says run or start or activate etc etc that you click on to initiate the process

Hi Pauly

I select the resetting and press GO! And not running appears.

Not sure what else to press?

I have never played with this module or encountered its battery so afraid im not familiar with any of these processes

I would assume thats not the correct process then or perhaps the process you are activating completes instantaneously which is why it immediately shows not running ? (is it just deleting history which is why it happens so fast ???)

Yeah I think I something is stopping it from resetting as when I press go the stop button appears and stays on screen until pressed.

I would expect it disappear if the action was completed instantly.

Strange thing is the SOS button no longer shows red and warning triangle gone but I can’t get the battery to recharge, it just sits at 27%.

I wonder if I need the security token to access

It’s normal for stop button to stay on screen after a function has completed, you have to manually stop it if you want to start it again

Oh ok, perhaps it’s worked like you said.

I found security code and that didn’t change VCDS response.

Just need to work out how the back battery chargers as so far ignition on/ off, engine on and hooking starter batttery up to battery charger hasn’t worked

Thanks for you’re help

So after many messages back and forth with Ross tech I have managed to clear fault.

Resetting the emergency battery seems to have cleared the warning light but battery still showed critical and low charge.

Ross techs really helpful and tried many different options to try but none worked.

I tried battery charger with ignition on and off, took the van for a drive and that didn’t do anything so in the end I made a charger and charged the battery away from the van.

All fitted and all faults cleared just need to see if the battery now chargers when the van is used or alternatively how long the charge will last until I remove and charge it.

Hi, I have latest Ross tech VCDS.

I will take a look at the weekend to map out where the battery status is or it’s on the Ross tech forum

Yes easy to remove just need to remove dash trim, instrument cluster and then remove module l. Battery is behind a plastic cover held in by 1 small screw

You need to remove the dash plastic trim around the instrument cluster (Speedo). off memory 2 screws from the cluster and then pull the cluster out. Module clips in behind the cluster
