Van not Turning Over

My 2015 T6 has randomly not been turning over. Garage used a lead from battery to chassis to recover it, then said the main earth strap needed replacing. They replaced it and it’s been fine for about three months now it’s happening again. I only use the van for work and back a few miles a day however last weekend I did about 100 miles and with everything on A/C etc. Drove to work on Monday and the battery light came on and shortly after the van just stopped. AA said it’s an alternator fault, the battery is only 6 months old. If it is the alternator why would the van start up by bridging the earth from the negative to the chassis. Is it possible this is two separate faults or is it an earthing fault. I’ve got an auto sparks (who dosent seem like he knows much) looking at it but typically since the AA boosted the battery the vans now turning over and showing no faults on a meter or when hooked up to diagnostics

So, when the AA came out, they stuck an earth between battery and engine to start it??

If that's not the case, then I think you have had 2 unrelated faults. Earth first time and then the alternator this time.

I'd also get the battery tested due to the stress it has been under

Hi no the AA just plugged his quick charger on the van for 20 mins and it turned over first time

Sounds like alternator this time then, different fault from first time

The problem is is the alternator is now running fine and it’s also turning over fine, it’s just so random
Electrical car guy can and it was coming up with a 00088012 fault I googled that and it said that’s for a stop start error on the dash board
