USB retention - is glovebox one possible?

I’m installing an aftermarket head unit into my 2017 California.

The USB in the glove box is the Aux In & USB like this.



Is it possible to swap the usb retention kit into this one?


Or will it only work on the cubby hole one?

I’ve seen this kit but it’s £139! Whereas a retention cable it only £28

There's this one which is a £100 less, but needs you to chop up your old adaptor, as it uses the original faceplate;

VW T6 (2015 Onwards) USB port retention cable - InCarTec

Cable to retain the use of the original USB port when replacing the original head unit

Or just leave the USB flying lead from the headlight hanging down in the glovebox for free, which is what I ended up doing.

I’ve been told it’s not possible to reuse the glovebox one.

I’ve just ended up buying a USB extension cable from Amazon and yes will just leave it dangling for now!

Yes it is possible, the instructions are incorrect that get supplied with the retention kits

we stock them and use them nearly daily
