Upgrading composition media to discover media questions

No need talking to these companies anymore,
it is DIY procedure these days :D
Are you able to elaborate?

There are lots of used MIB3 units on Ebay from all different types of VW vehicles. Is one MIB3 unit the same from one VW vehicle to another, I.e. one from a Golf is the same as one from a Caravelle, or are they vehicle specific?

Likewise, is the MIB media unit behind the glove box on the 8" Discover Media the same MIB unit for the 9.2"? Could you just swap the 8" screen with the 9.2" screen, or is it not that simple, does the screen and back end unit need to be compatible with each other?

I woukd have thought that VW would make these systems modular to keep costs down. So that a MIB3 from a Passat is the same as one from Transporter, and likewise, you could attach a 9.2" or 8" screen to the same MIB module??

I too would like to know how? As I have the experience to do all the wiring for the MIB3 9.2” upgrade from my composition media but not sure how it’s ‘DIY’ for most normal folk, as there is component protection to work around and most won’t have access to ODIS or a means to install hacked software onto the MIB3.

Are the MIB 2.5 units on eBay compatible with the T6.1? I’m guessing no of you want to use the dash USB-C sockets? 🤔

MIB Solution has published the full solution for MIB3(T6.1) few months ago.
The server is currently down though.

still don’t really understand what it would entail anyway, presuming hardware of some description to be able to hack the units? Which is most likely out of reach for the average DIY person. Or is it writing files to a USB stick and using engineering menu access to write new hacked software to the unit?
