Hi, has anyone up-graded or changed there pop top roof I have a basic pop up roof but was looking at something a bit better, mine at present does not have the built in pull down roof bed which incorporates the bed base & mattress, this would be what I’d like to upgrade to and was wondering if anyone out there has herd or knows of a company that could do the upgrade….thanks in advance

If you contact the existing roof manufacturer they should be able to advise you if you can install a bed board.

The existing hole will need to be the same as the new roof for a direct fit - unlikely however, failing that you can infill sections of panels if needed or use a different type of roof such as REIMO or SCA, which generally have a larger frame section which should (hopefully) cover the existig hole.

Thanks Ian, little more complicated than I thought the roof was supplied by Denby Camper vans I’m going to email them for more info on the roof size, thanks again,
mick.

We had a Derby Camper van from new. The quality of their own roofs, canvas, fitting and durability was utter rubbish. Within the first year of ownership the pop top roof hinges had to be replaced. The roof canvas extremely thin, was not waterproof or even showerproof and leaked at the slightest hint of rain. Applied a waterproofing treatment to the canvas, but little or no improvement. The mastic applied to the guttering would have been neater if done by a 3 year old child.
In short, also looking for a replacement roof.

Derby or Denby? We have a Denby converted van and the pop top seems to be okay, although we’ve not had it open in the rain.

Near to me Denby, think they have a real mix of reviews.
I’ve seen quite a few up close and I wouldn’t be parting with hard earned there. Think they have gone big with a lot of staff, so quality and consistency has been lossed a little??
They seem great at getting you a in van and have alot of choice, especially for the non researched customer base. but I believe this forum, with guidance, buying best base van and trying to financing the conversion yourself with a smaller company, gives you chance to tailor it and get the best at each stage.

Good luck sorting pop top, I’m sure they will offer a bed board system. 👍

Sorry for failing to proof-read my last post. Denby Campervans!!! Currently weighing up either a Stealth or a Skyline - but fitted from a company which focuses on quality and attention to detail.
