Underslung Tank External Pump Location

I'm going to install an underslung tank but im looking at pump options. I've got no room in the van, or at least i dont in the rear quarter. Has anybody mounted a shurflo pump under the van with long term success? Not sure im so keen on adding another 2 holes to get a submersible in the tank and i like the idea of having a positive pressure system to have a shower hose mounted externally also. it means i can run direct into the pump then run water into the van but also have an external outlet.

If so where have you mounted to keep it protected and has it survived the conditions.

TIA

Can't speak about long term success, but I've got my shurflo installed at the offside rear. I just removed the under panel and mounted it with some self drill screws. Been living happily under there since April last year.

Unfortunately, during the cold snap I hadn't pumped out the water from the pump and everything froze solid. Good news though, it all survived!

We were away during Christmas with the van and were driving in freezing conditions and the pump never froze. Probably lucky, and should insulate the pump at some point.

I have no pictures to show you, sorry

thats useful to know thanks! do you know which panel you mounted it to?

DO you have an accumulator or any issues without one? Seems mixed reviews in that respect.

Once the panel is off, you'll see a box section. Pretty sure that's where I mounted it.

No accumulater fitted, just the pump. I did have to tweak the pump adjustment screw to stop it cycling off and on so easily. If the tap is only on slightly, then yes it'll pulse. But very seldom do we just need a slight trickle from the tap so not an issue.

Did you manage to do this? I just fitted the 69L underslung tank, and I have a Shurflo pump and accumulator to fit now.

I ended up fitting it under my fridge and there’s dead space there and I wanted the frost protection as I use the van to surf over winter. I couldn’t really find a good place to put it towards the rear of the van. There’s definitely some sill space behind the fuel tank or in front of the heater but didn’t want to route it that far forward to end up coming back again.

Was going to upload a video to show what I did, I’ll try to remember to post it here when I do. Will see if I can dig out the footage to show you.
