U-shape! Lets start again!

I’ve not long since finished the conversion on our camper however, I’m having second thoughts on the layout! The more I see u-shaped layouts, the more I wish I’d have gone down this road.
I’ve gone for the conventional low-level units with a Titan Bed.
My question is what thought of money would an hardly used Titan bed go for? I have spoken to Evo where I purchased my units. I can keep the kitchen pod and remove the bed and rear bed pod and I’m good to go. Apart from a little bit of earache from the wife as expected. 😂

Does anyone have any recommendations for an upholsterer? I would like to price up cushions for u-shape set up

Are you hoping to reuse some of the units, and cook inside with the new U Shape?

Similar conundrum to me at the moment.

Now you have it done, I would use it for the year and see how you feel after the season.
There may be other things that need tweaking before you blow your Christmas bonus on a U shape/turn!

I plan to keep the front kitchen pod (fridge houseing and the draws to the right of fridge) the window panel and overhead lockers will stay too. So I’ll be removing the back section of the kitchen, the Seat/bed and the rear cupboard behind the seat.

I’ve spoken to Evo Design where i bought my units, it all works out. I've attached a couple of images of what I’m trying to achieve.

My wife was keen on a U shape, I had to remind her that we have a grand daughter, who will be coming out with us this year, and probably every blessed year....

Looks great but remember loosing two rear seats will limit the resale opportunities in future.
This is what i am thinking as well - i am not sure if i want the standard layout, or U Shape... its only the two of us, so trying to work out what to go for... U Shape would be better for us i think, plus saving 2.5k on not buying a RIB bed.etc....

It’s pretty much one or the other, perhaps a Crafter?

I understand however, I’ve no immediate plans to sell so not doing this to profit. Only me and the Mrs so 3 seats upfront is enough. If I don’t get what i want for the resale of the bed and units i take out I’ll put them in storage with it in mine i could refit if decide to sell.

I'm in a slighty different position with the 4 of us, but looking at a U Shaped rear. in my LWB, but would keep the factory Kombi bench behind my captain seats at the front, to facilitate travel with the kids. I'd then have the U in the remainder of the space in the rear, but it's tough to commit to a design hehe.

Cost wise, it's way cheaper going U over getting x2 RIB seats installed and then the rest of the kit in the rear, so that's what's driving my decision making atm.

I always find it interesting when people say "it will affect the resale value" when it comes to layouts. Who did we buy our vans for, who will be using them etc? Do we tolerate a layout were not totally happy with just to satisfy a potential owner at some point in the future. Get or change to what suits you and your individual circumstances. We purchased a new traditional layout camper from a converter and was never happy with the layout. 2yrs in we removed everything from the back, sold it and self built a U shape in and don't regret it one bit as it gives us what we wanted. As for U shapes there are more and more converters producing them and also individuals self building so we figured there must be an increasing market. This is only our opinion and we will all have our own views on everything in life. A pic of our layout.

If we don't get a perp terp this year, I will likely be putting my 112 RIB, matching upholstered front seats, side units with sink and hob, and fridge up for sale after we've had all our jollys this year and getting a U shaped layout instead...

I really don't need to over think it. This is our van mainly mine, so am not fussed about resale value effects. Van interiors are removable, interchangeable and very resellable, as are vans that are carpeted/insulated and electriced ready for new/second hand furniture/interiors.

If we end up still having the van when grand kids come along I will change interior again to suit. See what happens with diesel prices and Epstein tax over the coming years i guess

I would be interested in the RIB and Fridge if you do! :)

I'm afraid it'd be an all or nothing sale tbh. The idea of having to split the package and sell individually is offputting. The RIB is upholstered to match the fronts so thats a unique selling point. The fridge is slimline to fit the units. The RIB drawer fronts match the units.

Here's a link to our U shape Ply Guys install.

Not many seem to go for the option of an L shape layout, so you keep the kitchen units and storage but still have an open plan seating area,
Anyway, going back to resale of u shaped layouts, when our van was up for sale recently, we had various interest buyers, lots of couples not needing rear belted seats, like others above, we built the campervan for us only and the places we would be taking the van to,
I bet I’ve got the most storage in a swb transporter with my L shape ply layout.
Front swivel captain seats really open up the space, along with a poptop and a bi-fold bed board
