Does anyone have experience of these headlights WHEN FITTED WITH H7/H1 LEDs?
My brother is thinking of buying them for his van and just need the good the bad and the ugly on them. They look fantastic value for money.

I'm fairly sure that the V3 is the same as the V1 and V2 except for the LED DRL's and indicators, so all the threads on here relating to the V1 and V2 dipped / main beam will be relevant to your question.
I've got V2 and I put HID's in my dipped beam - they're perfect, they work brilliantly in the projectors. I still have Osram Nightbreakers in the main beam and they're "OK" but I haven't got round to putting LED's in them yet.

What ever you decide to do make sure you are certain before you fit the headlamps as its a bumper/ grill off job to change the bulbs unless you have tiny hands and can work with a mirror.

I will prob be doing it for him, but just wanted to know if they were good quality housings and reflectors/projectors or cheap plastic rubbish.
Thanks for the replies, he didn’t want to go to the expense of factory retrofit which is understandable.

You might want to tidy up the wiring harness before fitting, see related THQ headlamp threads.

I have THQ V3 lights fitted with both H7 and H1 THQ LEDs, been running them for a week. Not sure I'd describe them as fantastic value for money though. The low beam is certainly better than my H4s with LEDs, but not massively so, and the high beam actually seems slightly worse. They cost me £625 and because of the poor high beam I've also stumped up for some Lazers at another £500+, in addition to which I'll probably end up getting the HIDs recommended by @dubber36 to replace the H7 LEDs. Good as these lights look, they cannot be remotely compared to actual LED headlights, and the amount I've spent is not far off the cost of getting those, something I probably should have done with hindsight.

That is the sort of info I’m looking for!

Sorry I didn’t mean to sound like £600 is cheap, merely that is it way less than I spent on my LED ecus, lights and level sensor setup from TPS.
Obviously the idea was to see if the THQ lights can get close to the factory lights. Looks like a good option would be the THQ v3 with HID kits.
Or go down the road of a bi LED kit @Robert fitted to his Passat.

I bought the LED projectors @Robert used but I couldn't get the lenses off the H4s so moved on to the THQs.

The secret is heat but just below the point they start to distort. It’s similar to the glue Porsche used to use on the 928S front screen (circa 1983) We used to leave the heater on full blast during tea break in the workshop then gently push it out with your feet. Can’t do that on the modern ones though, they are structural and use different glue.

Yes I just couldn't get the heat right, the black plastic body of the light was melting and distorting when trying to seperate but the seal just wouldn't give. Anyway I've moved on now, might put these LED projectors up for sale or keep them for any future old vehicle project that might come my way.

We’ve fitted a few sets and consider them to be the next best thing to factory LEDs. We have a couple of vehicles on our website with them fitted.

Our first port of call for headlight upgrades on a T6

Definitely the next best thing to factory LEDs, but still a substantial gulf between them. Having now either driven or been driven in a T6 with all the light combinations I’d score them as follows, with the 100% reference being the LEDs in my recent cars (BMW, Volvo, Jaguar)

H4 - 40%
H7 - 50%
H7 projectors (THQ and other clones) - 60%
H7 projectors with LEDs 70%
Factory LEDs - 90%

I’m hoping an HID kit will push my THQs to 75-80%

I think you will be impressed with HID's in the projector H7 dipped beam, I'm thinking at least 80% on your scale.

Can someone give these a go please? I've spent a fortune on trying out different light sources in mine. HIDs are by far the best, but if these are as good, the instant start up might swing it.

That’s handy as my bro lives about 10 miles from your Bognor Motors workshop site

Nah I’ve been stung already with the THQ LEDs and I can’t see these being better, I’m going to order the HIDs you ended up with.

THQ fitted my V3's with their LED bulbs, took them around 15mins.

Probably best upgrade I've done, such an improvement over the original H4's.

I think there may be a newer version with a brighter drl/indicator bar ??

Yes that's the ones I've got. I was waiting for a v4 when they'd finally reach the ideal setup as I wanted a brighter DRL/indicator than the v3 but it looks like the "Ltd edition" ones may be the final throw of the dice before all efforts switch to the 6.1. They have a transparent rather than frosted diffuser, so they are brighter, but obviously the "dot" effect is back as the LEDs themselves haven't changed. I'd have preferred them in chrome but they're only in all black, but I still think they look pretty good. Just need a bit better H7 output and a lot better H1 output.

Old thread I know but I am curious to what ppl are currently running.. I messaged THQ and they said they were working on something new to come out this year! I see the T6.1 lights have a lens/projector for the dipped and main which I am hoping they will bring out for the T6?? I am currently running v3's with LED H7 in the dipped beam and standard in the main. Been thinking about HID conversion which seems to be preference among many on here! but looks a bit of a phaff to fit, also is it just an old wives tale they melt the lens?! Considering ditching the v3's limited edition all in black for the v2's as I think I prefer the look for my colour of van combined with chrome and black.
