Hi,
I thought to open another thread because the information around is mixed at best. I have even "consulted" Gemini AI and I got it wrong twice in a row.

I wanted to know which bulbs I have on my Entry Level 2023 Transpoter/ Kombi in the REAR lights (Tailgate model), since I got some error in the dashboard.
In particular, for the stop light bulb I got suggested P21/5W (UK380), that is just wrong, P21/4 , that is correct for a previous version of the van. The difference between the two bulbs is that there are orienting pins that for the former are at hour 6:00, while for the latter (correct) are at hour 5:00.

But, nevertheless NONE of them is correct for my van, this one of such 6.1 that has the small double lights with H7-H15 combination in the front.
This one below , to be clear. For what I see around , this is the last iteration of the T6.1 Entry Level with tailgate door.

Well, there are only two kind of BULBS, plus an UFO - for the Fog Light - more about that later..
So this is the Left light (for an EURO veriosion, should be the same - mirrored in a Right light for an UK version)
All bulbs are clear W16W , except the indicator that is yellow and is actually a WY16W.

The Fog light, for what I understood has a connctor where the bulbs are and that plugs in a LED light integrated in the red plastic of the light. See Picture below, the connector circled in red. Not sure if that "bulb" can be changed itself, it was too cold and I didn't want to fiddle with brittle plastic. Probably if it fails you have to change the whole light.

If anyone has more to say, is welcome

The fog light is an LED built into the light unit it cannot be changed and yes if it fails you would need to change the whole unit.

The required bulb for each is marked on the back face of the bulb board .
Hello Jumpship, I appreciate your hint. I will check that next time I remove the lights (soon).

However, I researched before for the bulb types in the original (paper) car manual (in German) and in the online manual (in English, after inserting my complete VIN number HERE ) and still I found no clue about which type of bulbs to buy. Having to start a 2-3 thousands km trip I almost bought a bunch of the wrong lamps. I am not familiar with VAG, but is this normal by this manufacturer?
Forget abot Google, forums, AI, that are all not bound to deliver correct information, but there are still some Countries where you shoud bring with you a complete set of spare lamps, to avoid fines. Shouldn't VAG make it easily accessible? Maybe it's there (?) but I still haven't found it.

BTW, I appreciate as well that the removal of the lights is really easy, doable with a normal Phillips N.2 screwdriver. The most tricky thing being re-installing the internal rubber seal. I was shocked also by the sheer amount of bugs I found under the lamp. That part, together with the grey plastic "bumper extension" just below (the thing that like least in my Bus) seem to create the ideal environment for the growth and multipliction of any kind of bug.

UPDATE...
Rewind it all pleas...
It is NOT that easy, of course...
So ,
1-There is no dedicated Stop (brake) bulb. The one on the top does is both - single filament Brake at 12V - Tail light at about 6V
2-The middle bulb is Tail light only, and works always at about 6V.
See below.
Tail light only (both bulbs at about 6V)

Brake only (12V)

Brake (top, 12V) and Tail (middle , 6V):

Sorry for the bogus posts before, I was just too ... optimist.

BTW, I bet that the (mean) Voltage reduction to approx 6V is done by PWM. I was just too tired (or too lazy) to pull a scope from the Bus...
That will probably make the life much hardel to anyone that wanted to try LED bulbs for Tail/Stop lights, assuming you can find reliable W16W LED bulbs at all, let alone street legal.
