Don’t think this will be a “T7”, I think we’ll get the facelift T6 in 19/20. If this is sufficiently different the marketing dept may want to call that the T7 to try and manipulate public perceptions that the brand has moved on from the last generation, but if not there may even be a further tweaking a couple of years after that before this JV is ready. There’s plenty of life left in this body shell yet and it’s always a fine line between losing sales because you’re regarded as dated, and maximising profits cos you’ve covered all your R&D and tooling costs.
Nothing to fear though, after all VW have had joint ventures before, such as the previous Sprafter with Mercedes, and that went well didn’t it...
