Tent told me off

The NC500 is great, but its not without its stress. Trying to do the route in too little, time whilst pitching a tent each night (with 2 lovely dogs) I suspect led to his grumpiness being sent your way. Not acceptable, but perhaps understandable.

I was surprised how quiet the NC500 sites were at nights, I think its because everyone is knackered and up early to drive usually a long way. I'm glad we took 2.5 weeks

We are doing it over 2 weeks. Nice and steady. Proper holiday then. But I think you are right. They were arguing as they packed away. Definitely better in a camper than in canvas

Well I may have voiced an opinion on the compatibility of tenters and campers recently for pretty much the opposite reason to your complaint and was roundly abused for doing so. I guess your thread highlights that the issue isn’t necessarily, (I mean it mostly is 😜 ) people in tents that are inconsiderate, people in vans can be too.

And the labelling of “Karen” is those inconsiderate people’s response when they disturb people enough that they feel like they need to say something about it. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve seen the Karen videos my kids have shown me and people (mostly woman named Karen it seems) do go mental but I’m not sure this fits that description but maybe some more thought is needed on both sides as to the impact of our behaviour on others.

Yes everyone needs to be considerate but watching YouTube on a laptop. In my awning at 20:50 can't have been too loud but after 10pm. She would have a point i guess. Karen, which was her name was quite happy making a racket at 07:30 though. Which i thought inconsiderate also. But I bit my lip.

I love your confidence in this but surely the fact that they complained (rightly or wrongly) meant that they felt (rightly or wrongly) that the YouTube video you were watching was too loud, yes the site rules state that the quiet time starts at 10 so you are within your rights to defend your actions but maybe earphones would have avoided the issue.

I think it's about the thin line between antisocial behaviour and inconsiderate behaviour. After 22:30 or thereabouts on most sites there is a quiet time rule. Obviously a consideration that the majority of campers go to sleep at that time and their kids. In this instance it would be inconsiderate to make excessive noise until 23:00 and antisocial to make excessive noise til dawn. Inconsiderate behaviour can be approached with a cautious request as well as antisocial behaviour but you have the fear issue with a lot of people of repurcussions. Dobbing in noisy campers to the site warden is likely the best option (having been a warden myself) as the wardens can site the rules of the site and issue warnings after the first request for quiet and this is more often than not the most effective option, as the warden can say they were doing night time checks and noticed excessive noise during the quiet time etc etc etc leaving the complainants ambiguity intact.

The OP's behaviour was perhaps a little inconsiderate but not antisocial. We can assume that the content of the audio being overheard was not offensive. To complain to a fellow camper about noise levels, that weren't excessive and/or without offensive content during normal daytime hours in a mildly agitated manner (the Karen model) is inconsiderate and borderline antisocial.

P.s. I'm not saying I approve of the term Karen but there isn't another term for a stranger that has failed to attain the power to dominate or bully. Appreciate it can be deemed offensive or mysoginistic so apologies on my lazy writing folks!

She looks a bit belligerent to me like our neighbour, only I reckon camping Karen looks like the sort to lash out, do a bit of damage and then pull the monthly mood swing card. 🤕
The Karen this end banged on the party wall of our delightful 1920s semi when I was playing some historical late 80s acid house, Acid Trax and Where's Your Child by Bam Bam.
It transpired that while the music was at a modest level and couldn't be heard her side the rumbly bass was driving her barmy.
I'm not sure what to do as I've tried listening to Floating Points album Cascade but without the four scoops running the music doesn't feel quite so planted so I'm hoping she will move even though they don't have a white Capri.🤫
