Hi all,

Does anyone know why the voice command button on my steering wheel does nothing? I've got bluetooth and phone connected, address book synced with the headunit etc but it does nadda? Have I just got the wrong headunit or something?

Cheers all

Seriously!!! Thats weedicowus!

If you've got bluetooth, why wouldn't you have the voice control!!! Surly it's not a hardware change and can just be coded via VCDS?

Unfortunately not its buried a lot deeper than that, dealers can't even do it, it's on the same basis as app connect

Well I'll be. So if I was to change headunits.....still no way it would work then?

If you have an iPhone and plug it in with the the cable you get app connect and a long press of the voice button activates siri etc.

I have an i phone, and when connected through
App connect I can raise Siri by just saying "Hey Siri" I can then text or call without touching the screen or buttons!:thumbsup:

I plug my iPhone in and just get 'device not supported' ??? iPhone 7 on latest iOS.

Blimey!! Which head unit do you have? I'm i phone 7 too and have discover media Nav and app connect!! Mine just connected straight up with no probs! I'm sorry to hear you're struggling!

Does this help....I've not figured out which version I have yet. All I know is I have DAB and Bluetooth but no satnav. I've only had the van 6 days so still figuring it all out. IMG_1925.JPG

Yep, looks like the basic head unit. But don't worry, just shout "hey siri" and do everything from there. I do and it works a treat.

Hang on, I can still play music through my iphone cant I? Dear god dont tell me I bought a van with an early 90's stereo lol

If it's the same as mine you'll be fine. I can still stream via Bluetooth. One good thing is that I can use Spotify and control it from the headunit....and it will auto resume after leaving the car and getting back in, even the next day.

Do I have to have Bluetooth turned off for that? The button does nothing for me no matter how long I hold it. However I usually have the usb plugged in AND Bluetooth turned on. (Habit from my old car which required both)

No, it’s independent of BT.

Hi Pauly i have the same problem but have a T6 highline with larger screen and sat nav and cant use the same button on the steering wheel. Are you saying that even if i book it in to Vw they cant activate it

It’s my understanding that it’s not possible but it wasn’t possible to activate app connect when T6s first came out and some dealers will now do it so the info may filter down from VW to dealers sooner or later who knows ????
