Taking delivery of a spanker

T6.14x4DSG

New Member
After owning a 5.1 for nearly 6 years, I took the plunge and ordered a 6.1 at beginning of July. My 4x4 DSG panel van (with several extras) is being delivered this Friday - I'm kinda excited! Will be here looking for lots of opinion of the upgrades I have planned. What should be first, performance upgrade; vented discs; wheels; - the list goes on.........

Excited I bet!... suspension is the next thought!

I see your location is the South Coast, there are a few we'll respected forum menbers and business that specialise in suspension, wheel, engine and body upgrades.

Exciting times,

Don’t rush into anything….. Try to work out how you intend to use your van and then work from there. I am sure you know what you want after having a T5.1 for years however! External works can be completed any time so don’t have a knock on effect to other internal works for example so what is your priority, internal or external? We have customers who want the outside to look great immediately and then go to internal works. Some want the inside done first and do the externals later. Internals are generally done in a particular order to save you money and also to prevent rework.

For immediate fun I’d say go for coil overs upgrade. This will improve handling and driveability. Big brake kits for REVO for example are good upgrades. Wheels can be done later and you can wear out the factory rubber for now.

From there remapping for extra grunt if required, you can have DSG maps also. Internal leather upholstery, headlining’s etc. If you want to make it into a Kombi, obviously have the seats installed and upholstery upgrades. Sound deadening, insulation, lining, suede/Alcantara etc etc.

If a conversion, I would recommend roof first and then work down. Can be done later but more hassle and rework.

Perhaps just enjoy it for now while you work out your plan of attack.

Cheers

I'm thinking remap; vented discs; and then some 'pretty' bits. Its for work primarily, so no conversion, but want it to go well and look good to.

A Remap will certainly improve the 'go' no end. coupled with coilovers it will feel like a different van.... For the better.

REVO do big brake kits here - VW T6 | Big Brake Kit | Mono 6 and will also take care of the REMAP.

For coilovers you would be looking at KW , Bilstein etc.

Shame as you have just missed the REVO end of year sale where we were offering 20% off software... however, even at normal price it is worth it and has 30 day money back guarantree.

Cheers
