T6 TPMS fault in VCDS after tyre change -SOLVED

I have a fault showing on my 2017 T6 Transporter for an intermittent TPMS Fault, This only showed on an auto scan today after i had my tyres swapped yesterday. The TPMS light did come on after the swap however i reset that via the console and it hasn't re illuminated. i have had slightly larger tyres fitted but it was a new set of 4 the same size all round. Would anyone know what this fault would likely relate to any why it wont clear in VCDS?

The vehicle is a 2017 VW T6 and im pretty sure that does the TPMS through the ABS sesnsors but im happy to be corrected? is there a way of checking on vcds if one of my wheel sensors isnt working and which wheel it would relate too?

After the tyre change did you check the tyre pressures and Store the setting on the MFD?

Yeah I reset the mfd after the change as the light came on last night. That reset fine and hasn’t come back up. I’ve gone for a drive now I’m not sure if it just wants time to know it’s not leaking. Does the T6 use the abs sensor or an in tyre sensor?

That’s good to know I’ll jack it up tomorrow and see if they might have damaged one. I have tried the reset in vcds but it comes back instantly after hitting clear codes.

The scan is just letting you know it’s detected low pressure at some point, if the dash is clear then just reset the fault code and it will go away

I did think that but for some reason the fault code won’t clear. If I enter the module and clear the fault codes it immediately comes back. I wasn’t sure if it could be an issue with some kind of learned value as I’ve changed the tyre size. Or I needed to give it a period of fault free driving as I had two warnings in two days one with the old tyres, one with the new and it wanted to know it Wasn’t intermittent.

I’ve taken the van on a 10 mile drive now so when I get home I will see if it clears.

Sorry but are you sure you actually cleared the code. The log you posted shows four entries into the ABS but no action in there. The VCDS logs even failed attempts but none here below - would show a line: "Address 03: DTCs cleared" in between.

Oh right that’s odd, I clicked clear dtc’s but it just came straight back. Maybe ill try again when i get back

Have you driven it since you reset the tyres on the dash, it needs a few miles to relearn the rotational values of the tyres before it’s ready to monitor any value decreases and present a puncture warning, perhaps the situation will improve with a bit of driving

So it looks like that was the issue I’ve done about 20 miles now since the light was reset, got home and the coffee de cleared straight away. I’ve done another full auto scan and all is clear. It must have something that holds the fault until it’s done enough miles to know it isn’t still leaking.
