Hi all,

Me and the wife are due to pick up our t6 on Tuesday, it is a t28 highline panel van that we are going to get converted into a full camper. Any recommended converters around Newcastle upon Tyne area, also an insurance company which offers at least 90 days European cover.

Moving all mine as a package to Adrian Flux, camper in conversion, agreed value and 365 days European with no single trip limit.

I contacted Adrian flux a few days ago as my work van is insured with them, they said the government has changed the law and they cant insure it as a camper until its fully completed

I have a new policy from them last week - it is described as "camper under construction". I have a year to complete and then the V5 must be updated so it can be insured as a camper. When we are ready to do that if I want there is a £15 charge, I send them pics and we insure for an agreed value.

Used to do that with my Mini, found it a pain having to send in a photo each year for the agreed value but they are good

But with a camper conversion, especially a new one, it is the only way to be sure you would get a decent payout in the event of a total.

Thanks for that I'll try them again, I was quoted £860 for me and the wife, I've got 11 year NCD she's got 7 year, it's a 20

Rang Adrian flux back they still want £860 aswell as the £505 I pay for work van, tried Brentacre and there doing it for less than half the price so a result I think can look forward to conversion now, thanks for the comments

Doesn't sound right;

I have only one NCD (full 9 years) that was used on the van I have just sold. We bought a 10 yr old LR Freelander as a run around until a) the new van arrives and b) for the winter at least. So AF gave me 2 policies both for 2 of us driving, both over 60, post code BN27;
  1. FC, value £5K, parked on the road 5000 miles p.a. for the 2.0 TD4 Freelander £450 starting immediately
  2. FC, value £35K, camper van in conversion, parked on the drive, protected NCD, 10000 miles p.a., 365 day European cover for the 150DSG Kombi £360 starting in November (when the new van arrives)
Apparently I got some discount on the Freelander for 2 policies and I paid up front for the van so that it is a done deal although I can change the start date beforehand if need be. The van is a little more than I was paying but several years newer, better Europe cover and possibility of agreed value. If I want for another £20 I could have had any car FC.

Perhaps you called them on a day when they had oversold and the underwriter was loath to take any more of that business at the time?

I would love to spook, getting the time to do these things is the problem, it took me about 8 month to insulate side panels on my old mazda bongo and ply and insulate the floor. You've a nice looking van there is that your own handywork?
