T6 Aircon effectiveness

I live in a hot climate and my aircon blows cold air. Certainly enough to be comfortable driving on hot days. Even days when 40c or more.
I would imagine that yours is not working properly.
One thing that we have always been told is the faster speed you have the fan on the less cool the air. Usually fan is not set to full speed.
The reason for this is that if you blow air to quickly over a cold object is doesn't get time to cool down compared to blowing air a bit slower allowing it to be in contact with the cold object for longer. Hope this makes sense.

I had my T5.1 re-gassed last year and it keeps the van lovely and cool/cold. It’s a fairly open van too and the system cools better than I was expecting.

I've always thought mine was poor from new, I've always put it down to being a dark colour and lots of solar gain from the large glass area, but it does cool it eventually. It's always worth noting that the actual temperature can feel vastly different to our bodies depending on humidity and also the fact that we're probably not yet acclimatised to warmer weather just yet could make it feel hotter than it would at the same temperature come July or August.

Drove through France during the heat wave with temperature up to 42 Celsius and I have to admit I was impressed by the aircon system.

It was measuring 29°C on the display on the van around here today & my aircon behaved similar to how you've described. It was blowing cooler air but not feeling as cool as it should & any other car I've had has been far far cooler & able to keep inside the cabin around 18-20 degrees in high temps. It was regassed at last service about a month ago & up to today was blowing cool air. But when the temperature went up it doesn't seem to perform. Must have a leak somewhere.

I drove our silver T6 in the 40 degree heat wave a couple of years back. Not a problem with the AC. Didn’t want to get out of the cooled cabin.

I think the front air con is mainly designed to keep a cabin with bulkhead cool. It's fine in mine with the bulkhead. Remove that and you're trying to cool a lot more volume and reading threads on here it's almost impossible without an additional unit in the rear.

Aircon in mine is nice and frosty, cold enough to be uncomfortable on my hands if its on full chat for too long with the vents pointed that way. I didn't think it would,d make much difference, but a new cabin filter when I serviced it seems to have made it even icier.

Certainly no complaints from the rear seat occupant, and she's very quick to find a reason to complain about anything.

It is possible to have too much flow over a heat exchanger to allow for optimum heat transfer. I’m fairly sure that VW would have designed the AC with the optimum flow rates of refrigerant and air.

Discovered my Aircon wasn't working over the weekend, took it to my local garage thinking it wouldn't be cheap, an hour later it was dropped back on my drive with a new fuse fitted.
All for free, can't get fairer than that.
Must get some biscuits for him next time I'm in.
