Hi

I’ve just bought a 2017 Highline 102. It’s had 2 services (only done 45k miles) it was last serviced in June 2020. Can anyone tell me when I’m likely to need the big service doing with belt/ water pump etc?

Thanks

Should have a new cam belt fitted at 40k miles. Best check with the seller, and also see what your local VW Commercial dealer has on their service record. Next service should be minor, sometime between June 21 and June 22. You will get a service indicator.

Are you certain of this? At 40k miles? I was told by the dealer that it was due next service..... I assume it’s on long life as it’s almost 4 years old and only had 2 services

So it looks like the cam belt/ water pump should be changed at 4 years/ 120k miles. How much should I be expecting to pay for this? I assume I need to use genuine VW parts, is it recommended to use a VW dealer or any old mechanic?

Yeah, not sure I'll be doing it at 4 years (next month) when it's only done 45k miles. Reading this seems to suggest I'll be OK for another year

I think the best way to look at it is, the official guidance from VW UK says 4 years so if you deviate from that, as I did, and it goes wrong, you'll get no sympathy.
I don't like being ripped off and I'm happy to follow the guidance that would be issued in Germany for the same vehicle, i.e. 5 years.
