hi would appreciate any advice,.we're leaving from Scotland catching ferry from Plymouth to Santander, driving to Gibraltar then to the algarve,
I remember being advised to visit santonia falls which is a hot spring in Italy, best piece of adice to date,

we are both in our late 50's but I'll still be jumping on the water slides,
we're be taking our own blowup kayak.

Enjoy your trip, Italy, Gib’ and Algarve are well spread out.
Gibraltar as you might expect isn’t the easiest place to park unless you have a space booked on the rock. Algeciras has plenty of parking.
Algarve, forget wild camping, all the vanlife stuff on YouTube parked in a beach car park overnight is pretty difficult as the civil police will be all over you and there are lots of them. IMO the late autumn / winter is best.
Personally I prefer the area west of Gib’ and south of Cadiz, where the Spanish go to get away from the Brit’s!
Search4Sites and Park4Night will help you with places to stop and water refills.
The best plan is no plan, I have a one way ferry ticket for November.

Gib is a thieves paradise according to a mate of mine that transferred to GibPlod. If it isn't bolted down someone will have it away. Follow all the sensible advice, lock van, dont leave anything on show, etc.

Nothing to do there apart from drinking and wife swapping, words of an ex Gib MOD copper mate of mine. Soulless place, like Hull in the sun.
I spent some time there as a seaman, about the only place it’s better to be at anchorage than alongside.

Personally I’d swerve the Algarve unless you have a pressing reason to go. Portugal has much more to offer than the Algarve. If you do end up there, then Silves is a gem.
