Hey all - brand new to this forum having purchased the van about 18months ago. Currently using the van for work but the medium term plan is to convert to a camper and so no doubt will find plenty of resources on this this site for that project, which is probably a couple of years in the making. In the meantime, I'm look forward to exploring this site for advice on the best way to create the dream vehicle.
More immediately, I've decided to swap over the 17"alloys for more sensible day-to-day commercial use wheels. The current wheels are 17" Devenport alloys and they have 275/40R20 tyres back and front. The alloys already have a couple of scuffs so I want to protect them before they get too bad. I've seen these on eBay which look as they would do the trick, described as genuine steel 16" wheels with Hankook tyres 205/65R/16C in black steel - Pardon our interruption...
Is there any good reason why these wouldn't be a suitable swap for a couple of years? And would be very open to other good suggestions to help me out in the interim - and any other recommendations of similar replacements, based in the South East London area.
Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum.

The only practical reason why not is if you have the big brakes, T32s (I think all?) and some other vans have bigger brakes which don't fit over 16s.

As above, some Transporters have a 17" chassis and you can't fit 16" wheels on those. Best check whether yours is one of those before proceeding.

Something not right - you say you have 17" wheels, but 20" tyres !
I am assuming you have 20" wheels, and therefore 17" wheels might be a good alternative, especially if you have the bigger front brakes.
The 16" steel wheels are pretty small, but were one of the sizes many vans came with, and therefore many people swapped them out for bigger (and alloy) wheels.

Don't pay that sort of price for 16" steelies. It's almost impossible to give them away.

Have a look at JBW wheels for some 18" Steelies if you want rid of the alloys.
