Hi there,

Just needed advice when changing my pads and discs myself on my T6.1 T30 is there specific tools I would need before start? All my previous cars were japanese vehicles. Many thanks.

Not sure about t30 brakes, but on the t32 big brakes you need a 9mm Allen key which is a b*****d size. Euro car parts have them for a fiver. You might also need a 10 mm spline bit.

Rear pistons need a wind back tool, normal pad spreader won’t work as the pistons have to twist as they go in

In recent years, whenever pushing / winding in pistons I clamp off the rubber hose (with a specific plastic hose clamp) and open the bleed nipple - In theory stops any crud in the piston getting forced back up the line and overflowing master cylinder if its been topped up.

Worth replacing fluid / bleeding the brakes while you’re in there!

Wind back tools are handed (for left hand and right hand threaded pistons).

I have one originally bought for Ford Sierra callipers on a Caterham and it works on VW group callipers.
