T6.1 2023 - Single to Double Passenger Seat

Hi all,

Appreciate the numerous posts on here about a single to double passenger seat change.

I’m in the midst of it, due to needing the extra seat for the Xmas journey. Got the double and all the fixings sourced, and it’s going in Tuesday to go up on a lift to have the adblue tank dropped for the new fixings

Problem I’m struggling with is the airbag, local VW mod company said it doesn’t need to be changed in my 2023 T6.1 Startline but the internet says otherwise.

Found a guide to removing the lower dash to switch them out but struggling with the specific part number I need, along with how to bypass the sensor as the new seat doesn’t appear to have any wiring into the seat itself.

Any guidance on this please? The double airbag part number I need? How to ensure the airbag is still operational after the switch? Got to get this done before Xmas 🎅

Many thanks
Martin

Double seat airbags are wider than the single.

My single seat in a 2021 van does not have a passenger sensor, even though the seats are heated. I can only assume therefore that the passenger airbag will go off with the drivers even if the seat isn't occupied. Seems a bit strange, but I've not managed to find any contradictory information.

I created the above thread after switching single/single single/double setups between two vans side by side on my driveway. I dont know about part numbers but certainly there was zero issue with airbag wiring etc. This was on 2016 and 2017 vans. Maybe google the numbers on the end of the double airbag in the pictures in my thread...

Wonder how different the T6.1 passenger airbag would be? I’m gonna be taking out my passenger captains seat and putting in a bench. Are there 2 airbags for a bench or 1 bigger airbag?
