Interesting idea, but I think you’re fighting the van a bit with that one. From what I’ve seen, converting a T5.2 or T6 to electric sounds great on paper, but in reality it gets complicated (and expensive) very quickly.
Main issue is batteries — you either end up with limited range, or you load it up with so much weight that it kind of defeats the point of a usable van. Even VW struggled with that on the factory electric versions, which says a lot.
Then there’s the cost… by the time you’ve sourced parts, done the work, and got it all signed off, you’re probably into money that would’ve covered a lot of diesel (or just gone towards a proper EV from the start).
Don’t get me wrong, it’s definitely doable and I’ve seen some cool builds, but it feels more like a passion project than something that makes sense day-to-day.
Personally, I’d either run the diesel as-is for now or wait and see how the newer factory EV vans improve — feels like a better route long term
