So we have finally bought a VW Transporter 😊.
We settled on a panel van and will get it converted to our specific requirements 😊

We want to use a reputable converter and are looking for recommendations please.

We live on the East Coast of Yorkshire and have had a chat with Colin at 8 Ball conversions near Driffield.

Has anyone any other recommendations for converters in the North or West Yorkshire region?

We are looking at getting the following fitted:-

Full width RIB bed (maybe sliding)
Pop top
Solar plus full off grid electrics
Windows side and rear
Flooring and insulation etc
Diesel heater
Fridge

Recommendations gratefully received

Thanks

Hi, try these guys. Two brothers very knowledgeable. [email protected]. https://www.northshorecustomconversions.co.uk

Don’t limit your choice due to geography, well worth a few extra train fares to get the right conversion.
Websites are a good starter, then unannounced visits to see the premises and how they actually do business.

Its a little further south at Grantham, but recommend Tribe Campervans, their standard conversion is full off grid using a Clayton LPS unit and sliding bed system too. Ours is a Stide bed which sits lower than the Rib but works the same with advantage that those with shorter stature dont have legs dangling in the air. 3 belted seat and large storage compartment that moves with the seat. Off grid electrics has Montana touch screen panel so you see exactly whats going off with charge from solar and current/power draw and how long left on lithium battery inside the Clayton unit. Engine alternator charges Clayton quickly when driving as it charges at high current (clayton is fixed in the van hidden away)
All units and the custom upholstery (if you go for that as an extra) are made in house with choice of an array of colours. Van shade blinds too.
They offer a source and convert service or take your van to them, Small, family company with attention to detail we found no problems, picked up our T6.1 a year ago and very happy with it and the service Tribe offer. They are usually at the shows think Newark will be the next one or you can book a workshop tour and see vans in conversion and what they can offer but with no pressure to commit to buy. Very transparent pricing with set price for standard conversion and you add extras you need all priced in their brochure. Threy can accomodate variations if required to the standard conversion they offer dependent upon customer needs. I think they only offer convestions on T5/T6 (5.1&6.1) and not yet the T7. They do have a website and facebook page so you can see previous conversion on the FB page along with a few short videos explaining certain aspects of the convesions. We are in Cleethorpes so was not a silly distance to travel and recently took van there for its annual hab check.

Thanks both. We have settled on 8 Ball.
Been to see them (unannounced) and spent quite some time with the owner. Also seen lots of examples.
Not the cheapest but fingers crossed it’ll be worth the wait 😁😁
Booked in for the end of June.
