T5.1 vent position switch

Hi, new to van life, encountered first issue.
I have a T5 year 2064 plate.

The position selector for where the air vents are selected to move in it’s 12-3 positions, it’s kind of just operating between 9-6.

I don’t think the control unit uses the braided cables as in previous models.

Is there anything I can check?

I am sure that is cable operated. Speed will be electronically controlled but temp and position are cables as far as I know.

I have one here from a T5.1. The two outer controls are cable. The position controller only turns 3 quarters, from 12 o clock anti clockwise to 3 o clock. You can feel the physical stops

It’s as if the stops have stopped stopping!!

How do you get the unit out?

Take the tray out that sits on top of the dash, there is two screws that holds the facia in around the radio. Take those out then the facia will pull towards you. The control panel is then held in by fours screws.

Your cable has probably snapped.
