Swamper tyre advice

Do you have an issue with the speedo?

I’m deciding between 225/65/16 and 235/65/16 and was wondering if the 235 would put the Speedo off too much
I was advised that this size (235/65) is very close to OEM accuracy. But I imagine its the sidewall height which would affect the speedo accuracy

Thanks! The wall height 65 is a percentage of width, so the 235/65 is ever so slightly larger sidewall compared to 225/65. 65% of 10mm to be precise. Sorry if I’m teaching you to suck eggs. I think the real world difference compared to stock is like 3.4mph at 60…and I’m not sure if that’s too much

I run 235/65/17 on my T32 T6. Using the Waze app on my phone my speedo remains consistent at under reading by 1mph when compared to the app at 70mph.

Typically, if the van came with 17" wheels from the factory, running 235/65/17 tyres will make the speedo almost exact. Maybe a touch less than 1mph under at 70.
If the van came with 16" wheels then 235/65/17 will under read a fair bit. Somewhere in the region of 3 - 4 mph, I believe.

I’ve got the same wheels and the puddle is a little annoying but after swapping from 20” alloys these are a much better ride and I can live with the puddle.
Go on Steve show us some pics, would love to see how they look on your van.

Fair enough, but my reply was to the person who was replying to a comparison between 225/65 and 225/65 and this was like for like comparison and not 16” vs 17” comparison, which would naturally be a bigger difference when adding in the tyre difference too.
