Swamper tyre advice

Hi,
I’m new to this and have very little to no knowledge around mechanics/suspensions etc. I have a 2019 150bhp dsg t30. When I got the van last week it already has 20inch Navis alloys with low profile tyres. I’ve already encountered a puncture and have a feeling this is going to be an ongoing issue.

I’m not a fan of the sporty look and would rather have a swamper style.

My question is who would I approach about changing wheels and tyres over? Would it be a conversion specialist or a regular garage?
How do I know what type/size wheel and tyre I need? Would my original suspension or brakes have been changed to accommodate the 20inch wheels and will this need looking at to change to swampers or is it simple?

Thanks so much in advance.
I’m based in the new forest so if anyone can recommend someone local who could do the work that would be great also.

Thanks

Tessa

Welcome to the Forum!
The subject of wheels and tyres can be a bit of a minefield and there is a lot of information that you need to know before you part with a chunk of cash.
Personally, if I were you I'd seek the advice of a Transporter specialist who knows everything you need to know about wheels and tyres, in the south I can think of two, @BognorMotors and @The Van Cave , both are highly respected on this forum.
Good Luck, but you won't need luck!

Have a look at the swamper wheels thread Swamper Wheels to get an idea of what style you like and tyre sizes.
Have a browse of various websites like VW T5 Upgrades, Transporter HQ etc.
The most common Swamper style alloys will be 17" (some are 16 or 18") but 17's are the most popular choice and should ensure they'll fit over the front brake calipers (some Transporters came with larger front brakes as standard and those need 17's as a minimum to clear the caliper).
Most tyre and/or alloy shops n garages will happily swap your wheels over for you - you don't need a conversion specialist.

Thanks so much for the replies and helpful advice, it’s refreshing as I’ve notice on fb groups people aren’t often very helpful 😬 ill have a look at some 17inch wheels as a starting place and then move onto tyres 🤯

For a 17” Swamper on standard suspension you can go 245/65/17, lowered 235/65/17 or even lower with a 225/65/17

On an 18” Swamper a 235/55/18 works really well

We sell all wheels and tyre package so are happy to quote and offer an advise required
