Sun safety is very important for Australia, so I made a hat for my van! 3 x 200w panels, should be plenty of power to keep everything well topped up. I've modified the roof rack mounts to drop the height 10mm and the panels are sitting on the square bars bolted to the underside of the roof racks, meaning overall height is essentially unchanged from the original height of the roof racks.
Next challenge is figuring out how to attach it. I'm exploring using gas struts and some latches so I can pop it up and slide timber/whatever underneath so I don't have to entirely remove them for carrying long items. I also want to have some form of safety tether in case it does fail - don't want this launching in the air and through someones window!
